Amanda Greive

Amanda Greive
Amanda Greive's hyper-realistic compositions reference both classical and contemporary symbolism and iconography. While the primary motivation behind her work is to tease out the nuanced emotions embedded within the human condition and to confront isolation and anxiety born of gender-based stereotypes, She also looks to comment on the contradiction between creating realistic imagery and portraying emotional rawness, as well as the uncompromised truth in the imagery portrayed versus its symbolic ambiguity.

Photorealistic Watercolours,
by González Bueno - Artist Statement

Photorealistic Watercolours, by González Bueno - Artist Statement
"For several terms, I attended an Art Academy where I learned the fundamentals of sketching and oil painting, but most of all, the theory of color and composition. I then became interested in the possibilities of Watercolour, mainly because of the endless tonal variations possible, and it suited my draughtsmanship abilities very well. I am totally self-taught, studying closely the technique of the British masters of the 19th century, primarily the Victorian period between 1850 and 1900. I have focused as well on Viennese watercolors of the same period, and Orientalists in general."

Artist:
José González Bueno

Jose was born in 1957 in Malaga, the birthplace of Picasso. He went to the local art academy where he learned the fundamentals of drawing and painting, applying special emphasis to color theory and composition. He then became fascinated with the medium of watercolor as he realized that not only did it suit his extraordinary skill as a draftsman but also the tonal variations were infinite. It was not long before he had exhausted all the academy could teach him and so he began to study the technique of British 19 century masters and also the Viennese watercolor painting of the same period. Bueno has also worked in the Jordanian Royal Household, and in private collections throughout the world. He is the founder Member and Vice-president of the Malaga Watercolour Association and represented in London by Mathaf Gallery and in Zurich-Montreux by Laurent Marthaler Contemporary.

Exhibitions

Since 1988, González Bueno has exhibited more than 30 individual exhibitions in Art Galleries in Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Almería, Granada, Seville, Málaga and London (Arthur Ackermann Gallery). In 1994 Jose was commissioned to paint several pictures of the Spanish Foreign Legion one of which was presented to the king of Spain, H.M. Don Juan Carlos 1. Since 1988 he has had over 25 “one-man “shows in Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Almeria, Granada, Seville, and Malaga. He has also participated in numerous Competitions and groups, amongst others the Top 100 of the Arts for the Parks Contest of the United States National Academy for the Arts, years 2003 and 2004. In 2010 Jose held an exhibition at Arthur Ackermann’s Gallery in London’s Belgravia. The show was a great success with five paintings being bought by the Royal house of Jordon and they are now hanging in the Palace in Amman. Three years ago he had an exhibition in Malaga during Samana Santa and five of his larger paintings were bought by Antonio Banderas. The following year he was given the honor of being commissioned to design the poster for Malaga’s Samana Santa.

RICHARD T SCOTT - Post Contemporary Figurative Painting

RICHARD T SCOTT - Post Contemporary Figurative Painting
Working between New York and Paris, Richard T Scott is known for his post-contemporary figurative paintings and his writing on aesthetic theory. His work has exhibited at Le Grand Palais in Paris, Palazzo Cini in Venice, Museu Europeu d'Art Modern in Barcelona, the Museum of New Art in Detroit, and is part of collections worldwide such as the The New Britain Museum of American Art, the Georgia Museum of Art, MEAM, MACS, former British Arts Minister Alan Howarth of Newport, Prince Morad El Hattab, and Robert C. Kennedy PhD. Richard designs coins and medals for the United States Mint under the Artistic Infusion Program. Scott was honored as an Associate Living Master by the Art Renewal Center.
Scott is known for his classically influenced paintings. Scott's figurative work involves a synthesis of narrative and iconic symbolism and draws upon memories, dreams, and reality. "Whether it is in his portraits, his compositions, or either still in his interiors, Richard T. Scott always tries to produce, on his spectators, a certain effect of strangeness, or at least, something like a feeling of longing. That's why, maybe, his compositions are populated for the greater part with mirrors in which appear, not simply beings just like those who face us - but of real spectres having the function to destabilize our glance while giving the fourth dimension for us to see” - by Frédéric Charles Baitinger, Critic, Artension

ISLANDS - Antoine Renault

ISLANDS - Antoine Renault
Antoine Renault's painting suspends time, catches the instant, the souvenir. Not in a nostalgic way, but to dip or dive in. Renault focusses on slow-motion atmosphere, time still on the beach, with a soft sensuality floating. His work constantly plays with the borders of realism. Yet, get closer to the canvas and visible brushstrokes push the reality back, offering space for emotions and echo.

Artist's Statement
" Summer and ocean side atmosphere has always been in my inspiration. Sunny days and short nights, dune smells, slow time on the beach, … To paint this, for me, is like sharing feelings of freedom and happiness because this is just where I feel the best. I have not spent one year of my life without sailing in this bay. And actually all the key moments of my life happened on the ocean side, if not on the beach. After some years working with oil and pastel, I moved to watercolor and eventually to acrylic. I simplified my palette at most, using exclusively the same 4 colors. Light, water, feelings, and some subtle sexiness are what I want in my paintings."

Artist:
Antoine Renault

Born in Nantes in 1963, Antoine Renault is a self-taught painter. His series « Ocean Paintings » brings him international recognition in 2012. Antoine lives between Noirmoutier and Amsterdam since 2014. Between canals and seashores. Antoine went to painting from photography he improved in the 80’s in New York, Keith Haring SoHo, and Edward Hopper Long Island. Back to France, husband, and father of 3, he catches a brush for the first time from his grandmother who discovered the fun of painting at the age of 70. She is the one who initiated him, allowing him to enter this very intimate bubble. Her work was a testimonial of her little pleasures, pictures of her world, while he tried to catch the dune, sunsets and the warm blues of a summer at his dear island of Noirmoutier. It’s in Barcelona, close to Sorolla’s shores for some years, that a passion for light and water develops. Reflections and transparencies become his favorite themes. « Light is my real motivation. Water is my favorite catalyst. Both are the guiding threads of my inspiration ». From then, his work becomes flow, movement, ripple…

Tanya Atanasova - Project YOU MY DEAR

Tanya Atanasova - Project YOU MY DEAR
I’m working on a large series of portraits of people I know very well or people that have played an important role in my life through the years. This two-and-a half-year project, in which I want to capture more than just the outer appearance of my models is called “You my dear” and is all about friendship. I have started this project one year ago doing everything on my own: traveling far to interview my models and get some pictures, working long days in my atelier, developing the website, buying materials, painting for months, crating, shipping, writing, publishing ... These paintings are not commissioned and there is no guarantee of sales. In fact it is quite unusual to sell existing portraits to customers/collectors who don’t really know the person on the canvas. But it still is a project of a great importance to me - this is my way of saying “thank you” to these people for being next to me all these years. I’m telling their stories, I’m painting/celebrating the link with them! In my artistic practice I use a lot of modern painting techniques to create the different “layers” of a personality, character, spirit, presence… I devote a lot of attention to the construction of my character’s personalities. Being interested in the psychology of my models, I want to become an intermediary between subject and viewer – building a connection that goes beyond painted realism. My gaze is directed deep into the story of every personage I create, his/her identity and unique complexity. Looking at the paintings should be like taking a glimpse into the character’s diary or reading a page out of his/her biography.

Artist:
Tanya Atanasova

Since her graduation from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Tanya Atanasova has worked in several different media: painting, ceramics, sculptures and installations… She grew up in an environment where different artistic disciplines were in constant interaction. But although she has been drawing and painting all her life (her secondary and BAA educations were art related), she has only discovered her great passion for oil painting in 2016. Inspired, after visiting the studios/taking master classes by some of her most favorite contemporary artists - she decided to become a full time painter. Dedicated to big size non-traditional portraits, she started weaving her way through contemporary realism. She is now working from her own studio in Antwerp – one of Europe’s most important cities for art and culture. In 2018 she is preparing a solo exposition of portraits (to be completed in 2019) and she was pre-selected for some of world’s most remarkable competitions. In her artistic practice Tanya uses a lot of old and modern painting techniques to create the different “layers” of a personality, character, spirit, presence… Each of her paintings tells a story and she devotes a lot of attention to the construction of her character’s personalities. Being interested in the psychology of her models, the artist wants to become an intermediary between subject and viewer – building a connection that goes beyond painted realism. Her gaze is directed deep into the story of every personage she creates, his/her identity and unique complexity. Serena Potter

Serena Potter
Artist Statement My early school report cards all said the same thing; “Serena day dreams too much”. They were such vivid imaginings that they scored onto my long-term memory. As I have matured I have become more conscious of my two selves, the one on the inside and the one on the outside. My art acts as a bridge between the two. Inside Out is an apt description of my work, reaching deep within to find that portion of my self thatdesires exposure and revelation. This show is comprised of pieces from several series, both oil paintings on canvas or birch panel, and charcoal drawings on cotton rag paper. Though they differ in medium and aesthetic, they are united in that they all tell a story. Certain imagery has begun to emerge and re-cycle through the work, eggs being one example. They represent those things that women nurture and protect; they are fragile but also embody a certain strength. The drawings employ themes of reflection, duality, private self versus public self and the pressure we feel to present a certain imposed standard of youth and perfection to the world. These drawings represent moments of self-appraisal where the viewer often takes on the roll of the mirror, creating a sense of voyeurism as if they have stepped into a private space. They, and the more tenebristic paintings included in the show, are notable for their use of chiaroscuro inspired by the dramatic cinematic lighting and compositional elements used in film noir. The paintings reflect the still, luminous light and close space of masters such as George De La Tour and Caravaggio. Then we have a series of paintings that contrast the vibrant hues and higher key palette reminiscent of the golden age American Illustrators (such as Norman Rockwell and J.C. Lyendecker), with a sardonic narrative, which places adults in childlike situations.

Artist:
SERENA POTTER

Serena Potter’s work focuses on themes of sense of self, perceived change or imperfection, private pain vs. public persona, and interpersonal connections. She creates drawings with mixed media charcoal and pastel, on cotton rag paper, as well as paintings in oil on birch panel or canvas. Her drawings and paintings are notable for their use of chiaroscuro inspired by the dramatic cinematic lighting and compositional elements used in film noir. In her paintings you will find elements color and light from the golden age illustrators such as Norman Rockwell and J.C. Lyendecker in one series and the still luminous light of masters George De La Tour and Caravaggio in another. Potter received her BFA from the University of Utah and her MFA in painting from Laguna College of Art and Design, where she is currently a mentor in their MFA program. She teaches at National University, Mt. San Antonio Community College. Her paintings are included in private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Mexico, as well as in the permanent collection of the Hilbert Museum of California Art.

Cesar Santander - Artist's Statement

Cesar Santander - Artist's Statement
"Once I conceive an idea for a painting, I arrange the objects and then use the camera to produce the strongest photographic example of my original idea. Then I paint the photographic image. Superficially, I appear to copy the photograph, but I make many adjustments to the photographic image as I complete the painting. I try to impose my own vision by subtle adjustment of colours, edges and details so that the finished painting is the strongest representation of the original idea." - Cesar Santander

Kimberly Dow

Kimberly Dow
"One works (paints) because I suppose it is the most interesting thing one knows how to do. The days one works (paints) are the best days. On the other days one is hurrying through the other things one imagines one has to do to keep one's life going. You get the garden planted. You get the roof fixed. You take the dog to the vet. You spend a day with a friend. You learn to make a new kind of bread. You hunt up photographs for someone who thinks he needs them. You certainly have to do the shopping. You may even enjoy doing such things. You think they have to be done. You even think you have to have some visitors or take a trip to keep from getting queer living alone...(). But always, you are hurrying through these things with a certain amount of aggravation so that you can get at the painting again because that is the high spot - in a way it is what you do all the other things for...The painting is like a thread that runs through all the reasons for all the other things that make one's life." -Georgia O'Keefe

Artist:
Kimberly Dow

Knowing she would make her living as an artist since she was a child, Kimberly Dow has been gallery-represented and selling her work since she was nineteen. With some college studies, self-study and workshops with artists she admires, she has crafted her figurative paintings to express narratives in a modern realism style. She has received many awards and been published internationally. Her voyeuristic obsession with people and their stories continues. The narrative figures, nudes and portrait commissions she paints from her mountain top studio in North Carolina hang in collections around the world.

Dream of compelling magic

I am always fascinated with the human story that all of us are living- often untold, sometimes unrecognized, but always significant. My paintings reflect the natural beauty of human emotions. They are a bridge from my imagination to theirs, and although the story I mean to tell may differ from what the viewer ultimately takes away, what is most important is that we have shared the tale. Elegance and sensuality are combined with spirituality in a contemplative surreal environment. I explore the human dimension: themes of the real and virtual world, a nostalgic state of adaptation. Adapting to survive like succulent plants in unfavorable environment and conditions, expecting a change to occur. I strive to draw honest and intriguing lines, to investigate the beautiful, as well as the odd, and to illuminate the common in an environment of graphic symbols and layered patterns. I create a visual dialogue where everything is possible and magic is the queen. Humans, animals, and plants are some of the themes that I use in my drawings, a subtle injection of ambiguity that blurs the gap between the ordinary and the fantastic. The background of this sub-world appears to be transformed into an innocent children’s fantasy that almost looks like a dream. When creating a piece, I take what is most personal and assume it is universal. I use my own experiences and emotional responses, and turns them into a narrative work that suggests to the viewer a peek into their own life. The stories I tell are about inner worlds revealed - the things that we are supposed to talk and feel, about our bodies, our families, and our life’s choices All elements drive my creativity along with a light touch of the paintbrush, feeling of peace and sense of a place. I strive to re-create the peaceful, contemporary landscape in my art to expand upon the beautiful palette that nature provides us. I appreciate the human form and the emotions within, so I explore acrylic mediums to convey the limitless individuality the human form embodies. I think of my drawings as portraits of a soul, not an actual person–pulling from the universal level instead of our clouded worldly view. They are more than their surface, much like us. They are my perspective and appreciation of who I am and what I know: a woman who embraces adaptation in a virtual world.

Oceana Rain Stuart - BIOGRAPHY and ARTIST STATEMENT
OCEANA RAIN STUART is an American, bronze sculptor, and poet. Stuart grew up in a multi-generational family of artists, and has been a dedicated artist since childhood. She attended California College of the Arts on a full scholarship for Fine Art, with a double minor in Writing and Literature, and Ecological Practices. "I am a figurative, bronze sculpture artist with an emphasis on contemporary realism. My purpose is to find empathy in the work I create, and to explore tension and complexity of the subject matter. I’m fascinated by subtle physical gestures, like the movement of a hand, the gaze of the eyes, as well as contradictions that are enclosed in body language and how each face shares a lifetime of stories. My passion is in expressing this through my work. Something powerful happens when we let our guard down - we become vulnerable, instinctively primitive, and essentially raw. It is an honor to witness moments in life like these, that lure the viewer in, if only for a moment, it is an experience and an opportunity, so naturally expressed by life that it is inspiring artistic material for me. And in these moments the human condition gives me endless ideas for my practice. I am particularly interested in emotionally evocative subject matter, expressive of humanity and often use symbolism in my work. My molding techniques and surface treatments often blend qualities of realism, surrealism, and symbolism."

Esther Huser Oil paintings - Artist Statement

Esther Huser Oil paintings - Artist Statement
In my work, I reconsider the question of Mimesis, traditionally related closely to realism art. My picture language consists of the false pretense that my paintings copy nature. In fact, I start out with a subject matter entirely designed and drawn in a digital medium like photoshop. I first create my own idealized view solely on a computer screen. The basis for these steps is my thousands of pictures I took over the past years. After having assembled a composition in photoshop, I have to adjust matching light and shadows and the value conditions on all the different pictures, before I start to paint my creation in oil. My artistic goal is to virtually design my own view of nature and pretend with the technique of realism art, that the viewer sees an existing part of a cabbage field. I create a paradox by taking advantage of a false pretense lying in realism art: that it is copying nature.

Artist:
Esther Huser

Her work

Award-winning Swiss artist Esther Huser has mastered the style of contemporary realism to create astounding works of great beauty and intimate detail. Huser explores the intricacies of the natural world with close-up figurative renderings of plants and natural objects consisting only a minimal palette of five colors. Above all, Huser seeks to uncover the “unseen details,” that surround us in everyday life yet are still invisible. Rather than inviting the viewer to perceive, say, a plant as a general shape, she delves into the visual minutiae to introduce the viewer to something entirely new. Since 2019, Huser is making her own perfect images of nature. She composes her painting first virtually out of hundrets of her pictures. Each cabbage or flower is not a copy of a photography but a painted version of her invented plants.

Exhibition of Frédéric Blaimont

Exhibition of Frédéric Blaimont
With a fabulous technique, a mixture of accomplished dexterity and the clever exploitation of the weft of the canvas, the bristles of the paintbrush or the brush, the ambient light, defying all the laws of composition, he invents balances tightrope walkers, always on the verge of breakage and ideal stability. Through his characters, Fréderic Blaimont translates real life in a tender yet uncompromising manner. What one notices, at first sight, is the banality of his subjects. Something unusual happens, the solitude of his characters is particularly present. His painting is a mixture of benevolence and wickedness. Sometimes unpleasant with his characters he nonetheless paints them with gentleness and attention. Ordinary passers-by, anonymous, transparent like the air we breathe, are pretexts to seize the chatter of these tiny heroes. If we listen, they tell us their past, their hopes, and their fears, one may recognize some of them.

Artist's Statement
The truth is found in observation. I am curious about my contemporaries, people in their everyday life. I like to watch their attitudes without complacency; I like their faults. Their imperfections are sympathetic to me, their authenticity makes them touching, moving, endearing, close to us. I try to reproduce in my paintings these characteristics and the feelings they arouse in me. And it is with great sincerity that I would like, through my painting, to share with you my interest and my look for these transparent anonymous and so common.
Moving, natural, captured by a lucid unforgiving vision, these portraits represent an image of society that the artist brushes with benevolence. –Luis Porquet / Journalist and art critic

Mohamed Erraad

Mohamed Erraad
Mohamed Errad's school is oral tradition, religious festivals and rites of passage that mark life from birth to the gravestone. His second source of inspiration, he claims he found it in the beautiful Atlantic plain where he lives, dominated by the green of olive trees, the yellow of passion flowers and the red of poppies. Focusing on to Erraad, He portrays its viewer two completely different styles of painting: in his first way, the artist first paints the support of his canvas in a single color, usually yellow, and above a multitude of animals nested and layered with very bright colors. Subsequently, he scrapes, with a piece of wood, the bodies of this fauna, thus giving them decor and relief. In his other style, Errad paints phantasmagorical characters and animals, of African inspiration, tightly pressed against each other, jostling each other as if the place had to run out. We notice that the heads of the characters are like masks with large holes in place of the eyes.

Artist:
Mohamed Errad

Artist without instruction or knowledge of painting or knowledge of the great schools of art, wearing it seems that he masters with skill of master hand the art of painting, and has a very great sense of creativity that an amateur of l art can notice the diversity of the subjects tackled in these tables also at the level of the range of color applied.

Mohamed Erraad has painted since childhood since he was able to take a brush… from 1993 he devoted himself solely to painting. he discovers the different painting techniques as an autodidact. He uses seven colors including yellow (often the background of his paintings), sea and sky blue, white, green, rouge and black. Originally from the Chaiadma tribe north of Essaouira, from the family of the Regraga brotherhood, his universe is nourished by oral tradition, religious festivals and rites of passage. The tumultuous imagination of his painting is inhabited by phantasmagorical characters and animals often huddled together as if levitating in the same dance. At the crossroads between art brut and folk art, the spontaneous, immediate creations of Mohammed Erraad draw us into a unique world born in southern Morocco, at the crossroads between Arab, Berber and African cultures.

MALO

MALO
Malo's work is often full of unapologetic color and is a direct product of his expressed energy — there are no sketches or previous drawings. He works solely from in-the-moment energy and he transfers what he sees and feels on to the canvas. The urgency and pace he employs to materialize what he sees are very real (to him). The rawness of his work exemplifies how his realities were never picture-perfect as the images that he renders are not either.

Artist's Statement
" My art is rooted in the experience of becoming an immigrant - something I didn't want to imagine at 17 years as Bogotá was all I knew. Being forever between two cultures has shaped my views and molded the themes of my pieces. I consider myself 100% Latino - equally Colombian and American. Throughout my art practice, I enjoy illustrating 'snapshots' of a peripatetic lifestyle — that of my own, which was focused on the survival of the time (living undocumented) and of those I encountered along the way. Creating portraits of others who have defied the odds and/or were infamous or honorable in one lifetime often takes over my canvases. A community’s history and roots are other themes that I enjoy learning about and painting."

Rose Freymuth-Frazier

Rose Freymuth-Frazier
References from a broad swath of art history can be found in Freymuth-Frazier’s solitary subjects. Influences range from Balthus’s discomforting depictions of preadolescence, and the queen of Kitsch, Margaret Keane’s “Big Eyed” children and animals, to the heavy chiaroscuro and technical rigor of Caravaggio and Rembrandt. This unique combination of classicism and pulp results in something of a hybrid between Lowbrow aesthetic and Old Master technique. Cultural references spanning 2000 years can also be found in Freymuth-Frazier’s work, from the Roman sculpture Sleeping Hermaphrodite, 2nd century A.D., to the video 2 Girls 1 Cup. Using a complex language of symbolism like that found in medieval religious icons or the Unicorn Tapestries, the paintings address universal themes such as child development, sexuality, loss of innocence, consumerism, domestication, gender roles, androgyny and body image in our society today.

Artist's Statement
" I paint in oil because of its superior ability to represent flesh and blood. Through painstaking application my leading ladies, theatrically lit and often engaged in some sort of mini-drama, are brought to life. They tell a story that the viewer may recognize, or depict a point of view that may be new to them. Whatever the case, I intend to hold up a mirror in which the viewer finds relevance to their own experience, but I hope not to send them screaming into the river."

Artist:
Rose Freymuth-Frazier

Rose Freymuth-Frazier was born and raised in Nevada City, California - a small gold rush town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. She attended Interlochen Arts Academy, a private boarding arts high school in northern Michigan. Upon graduation she was awarded a scholarship to study theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. After completing her training, and a couple of years spent in Hollywood, (which included a stint on a campy, nighttime teen soap opera), Rose turned her attention to her other interest - figurative oil painting. Seeking rigorous, technical training that most schools could not offer she returned to New York City and studied for two years at the Art Students League. After taking a master class at the New York Academy of Art with Steven Assael, she continued her studies in a tradition common to painters of the past, through full-time apprenticeship. Her first apprenticeship was for two years under Assael in his New York City studio and her second was with Odd Nerdrum in Norway, at his farm and studio on the North Sea.

Wang Xiaojin

Wang Xiaojin
Wang Xiaojin is inspired by the distant past, particularly its women and artistry. He endeavors to capture the mood of a bygone era that was altogether most refined and conservative. The details in his paintings are drawn from traditional Chinese culture. Ornate porcelain vases with elaborate flowering arrangements, embroidered silk dresses, and modish furniture serve to create the opulent world in which his figures live. Delicate and chic, Wang’s paintings hark back to a time when being “feminine” typified a woman’s existence. The scenes created depict aristocratic ladies who would want for nothing in the materialistic sense but who had little freedom. Indeed there is an unmistakable sense of melancholy in his work. The small bird-like bodies make the women appear fragile and vulnerable while their disproportionally large faces draw attention to their sad expression. Even when the figures are active – sewing, reading, fanning themselves or even socializing – their eyes gaze wistfully into the distance. It is hard to tell whether they are dreaming of a more fulfilling life perhaps, or whether they are simply lost in boredom. Wang knows that women of the time would avoid revealing their emotions in their faces. All they would show was tranquility and grace.’ Unsurprisingly, this invisible mask makes the figures all the more profound and intriguing.

Artist's Statement
There are two kinds techniques frequently used in Chinese ink paintings; Gong Bi (using a very thin pen to paint detailed work) and Xie Yi (a more blurry, freer style that strives to capture the spirit and essence of objects and figures). There is also oil paint, which lends itself to both realistic and more expressionistic approaches. I like to experiment with all the different techniques. We live in a wonderful world and though perhaps I cannot present my imaginary world to viewers as accurately as I would like, I feel immense pleasure in my attempts to do so. Aside from expressing my own emotions, I simultaneously hope to strike a chord with viewers and bring you joy. I am not a stylish person and what I strive for is to be genuine and true to myself, rather than focus on the opinions of others. I use my heart to paint and my soul to communicate. Although my body may never be free, I yearn to make my spirit soar.

Corrado Zeni

Corrado Zeni
Corrado Zeni's works do not represent architectural motifs. Rather the figures are positioned on a white background. The bottom is replaced by a clear, expressive gradient. The white spatial emptiness emphasizes the individual figures and emphasizes the attributes of the "Generation Y". It can be seen that the illustrated people are removed from the urban everyday life situations. Some stand or walk closely together, without communicating with each other and without requesting a dialogue with the viewer. It builds no external barrier between the viewer and the unrelated portrayed person, nevertheless, the posture of the figures makes it impossible to engage in what has happened, to be part of the action. Zeni's work document the contemporary life and modern society on an abstract background, in it on the one hand, disordered, fast-paced nature and individualistic perceptible existence on the other.

Artist's statement:
“From my point of view, I reversed the basics of my work. For almost twenty years I have been watching people I met by chance, taking pictures, extracting them from their stories and assembling them in my own, very personal and detached story. The technique and the creative process are now free ... The style of painting is more spontaneous, less controlled and rich in symbols. "

Mario Sánchez Nevado

Mario Sánchez Nevado
With a solid style, Mario Sánchez Nevado's conceptual artworks bring an emotional impact to the viewer, creating tales about universal ideas and feelings easy to relate to. His usage of colors is the key to creating atmospheres that are catchy but ambiguous at the same time, meanwhile, a critique of society and politics is usually found between the lines, as well as the roles we develop as emotional human beings in a historical era dominated by superficiality. His striking collection is deeply woven with bold narratives that allow the viewer to create their own vision of what they are seeing. Part magical storyteller and part sober messenger of society's ills, Mario's works begs for a deeper consideration of the world around us.

Hello! My name is Mario Sánchez Nevado and I am a storyteller who switched his old typewriter for a handful of colors. I am a freelance Illustrator, Art Director and Photographer headquartered in Madrid (Spain). To communicate is my passion, and to create, my way of life. I think that everyone has a good story to tell. I have created mine from the need of showing the world as an emotional and contextual experience. My language is obscure, surreal and caustic, but my creations talk about everyday life… Where the most fascinating stories are told. I am a vocational, freelance artist. I love to create artworks and designs for CD albums, books and posters. Outside of the studio, I work as Art Director of the international artistic collective Hysterical Minds. I also like giving motivational lectures and digital art workshops. Education: Fine Arts Degree, University of Murcia, Spain. 2003 - 08

Paintings by Bore Ivanoff. - A pure palette for discerning eyes...
Bore Ivanoff's art is a demonstration that shows how the overall quality of a resolutely contemporary composition and the pictorial solutions associated with an intentional abstraction can be used to represent a non-conventional subject. A pure palette for discerning eyes, where each of the "flavors" is a mixture, composed of ingredients whose exact proportions are known only to the author. A work that represents neither a physical entity nor a metaphysical entity outside of it and resists any attempt to fit it into existing categories, or to explain it as an exercise deliberately insincere in a formal anachronism and pictorial.
For Boré Paris it’s the kind of place that offers the right combination of inspiration and pain and suffering to keep him stimulated and painting. Independent and self-confident, with a remarkable ability to surprise and intrigue the viewer ... he prefers the enigmatic, the unconventional, and the unexpected. His work is precise, yet it teeters on the threshold of delirium and chaos. He brings outrageous levels, of pictorial realization to his work. His compositions are a sophisticated exercise in the manipulation of form, keyed-up color, density, illusionism, brushwork, and compression. The interior and the exterior merge to produce a single image whose complexities are almost impossible to untangle. The result is which the abstract nearly trumps the real.

Artist:
Bore Ivanoff

Bore Ivanoff. Contemporary, protean artist, based in Paris since 2001. Originally from Eastern Europe. Boré Ivanoff essentially paints views of Paris since 2012. Subtle blend of glory, pain and suffering, the city of light is his greatest source of inspiration. Trying to intrigue and surprise his audience, he focuses on transcribing an unconventional Paris, unexpected, enigmatic, "never seen before". Between the abstract and the real... Sophisticated and complex, Boré Ivanoff's works oscillate between abstraction and realism. The artist manipulates shapes and colors and reinvents reality to make it subtly abstract but always recognizable. In his compositions where interiors and exteriors intermingle and seem inseparable, Boré experiments and explores the boundaries of reality.

Abandoned places by Torsten Schmidt

Abandoned places by Torsten Schmidt

Abandoned Places
Abandoned Places is a series of works dealing with leaving. As an allegory of social loneliness, Schmidt tells of abandoned places in his exhibition “Abandoned Places”. The dilapidated interiors, the useless objects or rusted mobility tools that have replaced people in other places tell stories about home and leaving it. Or of social spaces, the use of which is no longer possible or desired. Schmidt acts as an observer, never evaluating the things he sees. He arranges nothing at the locations, photographs from different angles in daylight. Even if these places are left to the unmistakable decay, Schmidt portrays these places in their dignity and beauty.

What started as a hobby became his passion. Every photoshoot means a new challenge. Creativity, naturalness and an expressive visual language distinguish pictures that differ from the crowd. Put him or her in the mood that fits the picture. Watch and trigger at the right moment. Conduct with clear information or follow instinctive movements. Generate feelings.

artist’s statement

I emphasize visual impact over narrative context, focusing on the subtle orchestration of my subject within a framework of design. I create a deliberate push-and-pull between near-photorealistic detail and my own vocabulary of visual glitches that challenge that very realism. This duality is central to my work and allows the figures I paint to remain wholly representational while functioning abstractly — evoking emotion without defining it.

Adam xxxNeatexxx
Adam Neate works within a personal contemporary Cubist aesthetic he calls “dimensionalism,” He began his career by leaving his artworks on the street, yet now shows the paintings and assemblages in galleries. With notable influences from Francis Bacon and from Pablo Picasso, his practice combines street art techniques and materials with traditional methods of mark-making and construction. Neate has expressed that “the whole point of being an artist is to be creative and to create, to invent new ways of seeing and showing the world.”

Techniques
Uses aerosols and found objects, he painted on cardboard boxes, which he collected from the street, avoiding the use of canvas because of its cost. His work can have two and three-dimensional qualities, as he tears the material, builds it in layers and staples pieces together, mainly making figurative images, which include self-portraits and portraits of friends. In an essay in December 2012, art historian Ben Jones wrote "In Adam Neate's most recent work, space itself becomes the medium. The accumulated plasticity of Cubism's two distinct phases has been re-energized by Neate's own distinctive mode: Dimensional Materialism. To get the full multi-dimensional effect, the viewer is asked to activate their own viewing space ...as you move and change vantage point, negative space is held in balance, unleashed, then restrained again. The image resolves itself. Foreground to background shifting, space dissolving, volume folds in, energy pushes out ...Neate's compositions are mapped by sensations of simultaneity. Multiple moments of past experience are elided with a slowed down and extended present moment."
